Introduction

For my Bible class in school, we were asked to find something we are passionate about but have never really tried, and spend the semester working on it, or turning it into a hobby. I chose to do fashion photography.

I've been interested in fashion for years, and recently I realized that I could be more involved in the art than simply reading magazines about it. I've done fashion design courses, but I've never done real life fashion photo shoots, even though I can tell I would love it.

Throughout the semester, I hope to compile a portfolio of fashion shots. I want to play with lighting, makeup, hair, and clothing to create a variety of moods, such as natural, glamourous, and edgy, with some street style mixed in.

I plan to use several different sources in order to get different kinds of information. From magazines, I can get ideas for poses, moods, and makeup/hairstyling; websites will be useful for lighting tricks and flattering camera angles; and my friend Carmela is really into photography, so she said she could help me learn my way around a camera!

I'm sure it will be tricky and frustrating at first, trying to get the right lighting, angles, and feel, but I also think it will be fun. I have a few friends who are willing to model for me, and I have some looks I'm really excited to try on them. Over all, I think this is going to be a really interesting project.
